William Butler & Eliza Mathews

were married on 8th April 1862 at St James' Church in Ravenfield, Yorkshire.

William Butler

was born on 13th December 1841 in Ravenfield, Yorkshire.

He died on 4th December 1916 in Ravenfield

and was buried at St James' Church, Ravenfield on 7th December 1916

His parents were Matthew Butler & Frances Tye.

Eliza Mathews

was born on 30th May 1842 in Sutton-in-Ashfield, Nottinghamshire.

She died of tuberculosis at the age of 23, on 30th November 1865

and was buried on 3rd December 1865 at St James' Church, Ravenfield.

Her parents William Mathews and Ann Harris

William Butler worked as a quarryman.

William and Eliza had three children, George was born on 20th July 1862, Charles Henry was born on 7th December 1863 and William was born in 1865, all in Ravenfield.

After the death of his first wife Eliza in 1865, William remarried. His second wife was Annie Elizabeth Matthewman. They were married in the September quarter of 1867. According to the 1881 census, Annie Elizabeth was born in Pigburn* She died on 26th May 1929 and was buried with her husband at St James' Church, Ravenfield on 29th May 1929

William and Annie Elizabeth had 6 children. Their names are shown on the censuses. William and Annie Elizabeth were living in Bramley in 1871 with four children. At the time of the 1881 census they were living in Ravenfield with seven children. They were still living in Ravenfield in 1891.
